David, I still can't believe how perfectly you captured our Capri wedding. From our first video call when we were planning everything from Chicago, your professionalism and genuine excitement put us completely at ease.
On the wedding day, you were incredible. You anticipated moments before they happened, moved through our celebration so naturally, and made us feel completely comfortable in front of the camera.
These images are beyond anything we imagined, timeless, emotional, and so authentically us.
We're grateful forever.

Every image is an invitation,
to FEEL, to REMEMBER, to RELIVE
Your elopement unfolds in moments, some grand, some whisper-quiet, but all of them fleeting. My role is to capture not just what these moments looked like, but how they felt. The way your heart raced during your first look, the warmth of your mother’s embrace, the uncontrollable laughter shared with your closest friends. These are the emotions that define your celebration, and they deserve to be preserved with the same care and artistry you’ve invested in every other detail of your day.
I believe the most powerful elopement photographs are those that transport you back to the exact feeling of a moment, not just its appearance. Years from now, when you turn the pages of your album, you shouldn’t just see beautiful images. You should feel the butterflies, hear the music, smell the flowers, and remember exactly why you chose to celebrate your love in that particular place, in that particular way. This is the difference between documentation and storytelling, between capturing a moment and preserving its soul.
My approach blends the sophistication of editorial photography with the authenticity of documentary storytelling. Inspired by fashion photography, I create images that are both timeless and deeply personal. Sophisticated enough to grace the pages of a magazine, yet intimate enough to make you cry when you see them for the first time. Because your wedding isn’t just an event to be photographed. It’s a love story that deserves to be felt, remembered, and relived for generations to come.
The magic of an eternal story
MEET DAVID
Hi, I’m David, an elopement photographer born in the beautiful Canary Islands of Spain, now splitting my time between Spain and Italy. I’m passionate about family, Italian cuisine, and tennis. But above all, I’m passionate about capturing the essence of love stories through my lens.
My approach blends documentary-style photography with touches of fashion and nostalgia to create timeless, sophisticated imagery. I believe in preserving the true colors of your day, the way I saw them through my own eyes. Every elopement is a unique story, and I feel honored to tell it through photographs that feel both natural and refined.
If you share my love for natural beauty, true emotions, and timeless elegance, I’d be thrilled to tell your story, too.
LOCATIONS THAT TELL YOUR STORY
San Marco Basin: The Iconic Opening
This is Venice at its most recognizable, and there’s a reason these views are famous. The Doge’s Palace rising from the water, the domes of Santa Maria della Salute catching first light, the sweeping basin that opens to the Adriatic. As a photographer, what excites me here isn’t just the grandeur but the way morning light transforms everything. At sunrise (which I strongly encourage), the basin becomes glassy and reflective. The golden light hitting the basilica’s Byzantine domes creates this warm glow that seems to radiate from within the buildings themselves.
I position couples along the waterfront near San Marco, using the long lines of the architecture to create depth and scale. The key is timing. By 6:30am, we have perhaps 45 minutes of near-solitude. By 8am, tour groups arrive and the magic shifts. In this early window, your images will show Venice as locals experience it, quiet and breathtaking. The wide-open space here allows me to capture both sweeping environmental portraits that place you within Venice’s grandeur and intimate close-ups where the soft morning light sculpts your faces beautifully.
Rialto Bridge and Grand Canal: Energy and Movement
The Rialto offers something different, controlled chaos that speaks to Venice’s living, breathing character. Yes, it gets busy, but that energy can work in your favor. I love photographing couples here from Riva del Vin, the fondamenta (waterfront walkway) that runs alongside the canal. From this vantage point, the bridge creates a dramatic backdrop while passing gondolas and vaporetti add movement and life to the frame.
What I’m looking for photographically is the interplay between you and the city’s rhythm. A gondola gliding past at the exact moment you kiss. Water taxi wakes creating ripples that catch light. The bridge itself becomes a secondary subject, framing you without overwhelming. The nearby Rialto market, if we time it right (8-9am), adds incredible color and authentic Venetian life. Produce vendors arranging perfect pyramids of blood oranges, fishmongers laying out the morning catch, locals greeting each other in Venetian dialect. These environmental details in your gallery create context and story.
Ponte dell'Accademia: My Personal Favorite for Couples
This wooden bridge crossing the Grand Canal holds a special place in my work. It offers everything I want as an elopement photographer: iconic Venice views, fewer crowds than Rialto or San Marco, and extraordinary light conditions at sunset. The bridge’s elevation provides sweeping perspectives down the Grand Canal toward Santa Maria della Salute, while the surrounding Dorsoduro neighborhood offers quiet canals for intimate moments.
I typically structure Accademia sessions to take advantage of changing light. We might start in the peaceful side canals of Dorsoduro, where narrow passages and colorful building facades create intimate, romantic frames. As sunset approaches, we move to the bridge itself. That golden hour light streaming down the Grand Canal, reflecting off water, creates this warm luminous quality that makes skin glow and white dresses practically radiate. The bridge’s height also lets me shoot from multiple angles, from wide environmental shots showing Venice’s grandeur to tighter compositions focusing on your connection.
Hidden Venice: Cannaregio and Beyond
This is where my knowledge as a local elopement photographer really matters. Cannaregio, the northern district where real Venetians live, offers something tour groups never see: authentic neighborhood life, peaceful canals, and architectural details untouched by tourism. Fondamenta degli Ormesini and the surrounding streets feel like traveling back in time. Laundry hangs between buildings, local bakeries fill the air with focaccia scent, and the light quality here, filtered through narrow passages, creates beautiful contrast and depth.
Photographically, these areas let me work more slowly and deliberately. No crowds means I can position you precisely where light is most flattering. No rushing means authentic moments emerge naturally. The weathered facades, potted plants on windowsills, and lived-in character of these neighborhoods add texture and story to your images. When couples tell me they want their Venice elopement to feel authentic rather than touristy, this is where we spend significant time.
San Pietro di Castello, even further east, takes this concept to another level. This quiet island in Venice’s far eastern reaches feels like discovering the city 200 years ago. The cathedral’s campo (square) and surrounding streets see so few visitors that we can work with complete creative freedom. The light here, unobstructed by tall buildings, is clean and even. Perfect for couples seeking true privacy and a contemplative atmosphere.
Piazza San Marco: Venice's Grand Stage
Piazza San Marco is Venice at its most magnificent and most challenging. The Byzantine domes of the basilica catching morning light, the soaring Campanile rising 99 meters above the square, the elegant arcades creating perfect frames on three sides, this is the Venice everyone dreams of. As a photographer, what excites me here isn’t just capturing these iconic elements but doing so when the square reveals its true character, empty and ethereal at dawn. That brief window before 7am when the city belongs to a handful of early risers transforms this normally chaotic tourist hub into an intimate space where your ceremony can unfold with genuine privacy and peace.
I structure San Marco sessions around that magical pre-dawn period. We arrive while street lamps still glow during blue hour, creating atmospheric backlight against the basilica’s ornate facade. As sunrise breaks, warm light floods across the square’s expanse, and this is when I position you using the arcade’s columns as natural frames, the geometric patterning of the pavement leading the eye toward you, and the grand architecture providing scale and context. The challenge here is timing, by 8am the moment is lost to crowds. But couples who embrace the early wake-up consistently tell me these dawn images at San Marco become their favorites, capturing Venice’s grandeur while maintaining the intimate feeling that defines an elopement.
Essential Planning Considerations for Your Venice Elopement
While photography takes center stage in your Venice elopement, several practical elements deserve attention to ensure everything flows smoothly. Here’s what you need to know.
Best Seasons for Photography in Venice
From a photographer’s perspective, late September through October offers ideal conditions. The summer crowds have thinned significantly, temperatures sit comfortably between 18-22°C perfect for extended outdoor sessions, and the autumn light has that golden quality that makes everything look painterly. The angle of the sun is lower, creating beautiful dimension and avoiding the harsh overhead light of summer.
Spring (April through May) comes in close second. Wisteria blooms adding gorgeous purple to your images, comfortable temperatures, and generally stable weather. The light is clean and fresh, though you’ll encounter more tourists than fall.
Summer (June through August) brings challenges. The heat can be intense (28-32°C with high humidity), crowds are at their peak making logistics difficult, and midday light is harsh and unflattering. If summer is your only option, I strongly recommend sunrise sessions when it’s cooler and emptier, and we can avoid the worst light and crowds.
Winter (November through February) offers a completely different aesthetic. Mysterious fog creates atmospheric, moody imagery unlike any other season. Dramatically fewer tourists mean we have locations to ourselves. The trade-offs are cold temperatures (4-10°C), shorter daylight hours limiting our shooting window, and frequent rain. For adventurous couples who love moody, cinematic photography, winter Venice is extraordinary.
Navigation and Getting Around
Venice’s car-free nature means planning transportation differently. Water taxis (€70-120 from airport, €50+ within city) offer convenience and comfort, perfect when you’re in wedding attire and carrying equipment. I often coordinate with couples to share water taxis to photo locations, maximizing our time and keeping you looking fresh.
Walking is our primary transportation during photo sessions. Venice is compact, but you’ll cover significant distance. Comfortable shoes are essential. Many brides bring elegant flats or low wedges for walking, changing into heels only for specific portraits. I’ve seen too many couples struggle through cobblestones and bridges in inappropriate footwear, and it shows in their faces in photos.
The vaporetto (water bus) works for budget-conscious couples (€9.50 single ride, €25 day pass), but expect crowds and potential delays. For your elopement day specifically, I recommend private water taxis to maintain schedule and avoid arriving sweaty or stressed.
Your Venice Elopement Awaits
Venice offers something rare in our modern world, a place where time seems to pause, where romance isn’t just a feeling but a tangible presence in misty canals and golden light on ancient stones. Your elopement here isn’t just a wedding; it’s an intimate adventure, a love letter written across bridges and waterways, a celebration that honors exactly what matters most: your commitment to each other.
As an elopement photographer who has been privileged to witness countless couples exchange vows in Venice’s most beautiful corners, I can tell you this: the couples who embrace the experience fully, who wake for sunrise, who wander quiet neighborhoods, who laugh when their gondola gets stuck in traffic, who dance on bridges, these are the couples whose images and memories radiate pure joy.
Venice will give you as much as you’re willing to receive. Approach your elopement with open hearts, trust your photographer’s guidance, and stay present for every moment. The images we create together will be beautiful, but the experience itself, that’s what you’ll carry forever.
Dear David,
CHERISH THE MOMENTS, KEEP THEM FOREVER
Because the times we have now, we won't have them back. That is why we have beautiful memories to keep them close to our hearts.
SO, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
